Archaeologist Allison Hill has eleven years of experience in cultural resources management, working on projects subject to local, state, and federal regulations across Southern and Eastern California. Ms. Hill will discuss her research on the organization of coiled basket production by Native California tribes in the past. Through a review of traditional tribal knowledge, experimental replication, and stone tool analysis, Ms. Hill studied how Emigdiano Chumash women likely scheduled the stages of basket production around primary food gathering activities at different locations throughout the year, engaging in basket manufacture across the cultural landscape.
