The San Diego County Archaeological Society (SDCAS)'s celebration of California Archaeology Month and International Archaeology Day is held on the 3rd Saturday in October as part of our annual Arch in the Park event. Our goal is to educate the public about archaeology, and to provide information on various career and volunteer opportunities with local archaeological companies, museums, universities, and organizations. Typically, more than 30 vendors take part in Arch in the Park by having a table in the Ranch House courtyard with informational fliers and activities. Arch in the Park is ideal for students and budding archaeologists to network, as well as family fun. There are demonstrations on flint knapping, pottery, and basket making, as well as a special performance by Running Grunion. Food and beverages are available for purchase. Children will also be entertained as many booths incorporate fun and educational activities for kids. SDCAS sponsors an interactive game and a mock excavation. Join SDCAS for a fun-filled outing!
